The weather is warming up, you have campsites all booked, and your Vistabule has been waiting patiently in storage. It’s finally time to hit the road!

Before you hook up and head out, it is important to slow down for just a moment because in all of this excitement even the most seasoned campers can overlook the simplest tasks. To make sure this doesn’t happen, check with this list from the team at Vistabule and your User Guide to make sure your trailer is road-ready and adventure-proof for the long season ahead!

First things first, make sure your exterior and interior are all set

There is a full pre departure check list on page 16 of your User Guide! Make sure to go through that list first before leaving for your destination.

Before you take off, charge your battery

The day before you leave, charge your battery on shore power. As a bonus, go ahead and run your cooler on shore power too so it isn’t too draining on your battery on the road. Before you head out, make sure:

  • The red breaker switch in your passthrough window is switched to Reset
  • The GFI outlet inside your Vistabule has the green light on — if not, go ahead and reset it!
  • For any other electrical troubleshooting page 46 of the User Guide has more in depth info for you!

Be sure to check the power output of your roof mounted solar panels

  • Trailers up to #998: Your User Guide has step-by-step directions (pg. 51) for checking your Victron solar panels using the Victron Connect app. Select MPPT 75/15 or MPPT 75/10 in the app to see your current output and other system details.
  • Newer trailers without a Victron solar controller: Place your trailer in direct sunlight, disconnect shore power, and flip off the main 12V power switch on the galley control panel. This isolates the solar input so you can see exactly what your panels are generating. Check the display next to the galley controls or pull up the Victron Connect app, and use the + or – buttons to scroll to the amps or watts screen for a live reading.

If you have one, be sure to check that your propane tank is full

Check out page 29 of the User Guide for some helpful tips and tricks to check your propane levels.

Go ahead and test your furnace (User Guide pg. 34) and cooktop (User Guide pg. 72) to make sure they’re both in good shape. You’ll want those reliable hot meals and cozy nights after a big day out there!

Be sure all your extra gear is ready to go!

Do you have your hiking boots? Pots and pans? Are you sure you have all of your chargers and flashlights? Maybe add a few extra pairs of underwear just in case. But make sure you have absolutely everything you will need to have the time of your life out in the woods! If you aren’t sure where to start, check out our suggested packing list on page 95 of the User Guide.

If you run into any other problems, check out the troubleshooting section of the User Guide that starts on page 85!

So, while you are basking in all of the excitement, be sure to double check your list and run through ours. Your User Guide has everything you need to handle whatever the road throws at you, so keep it close. Now, pack up your gear and get out there!
